Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about finding, comparing, and booking long-stay moorings on MoorHub.
What is MoorHub?
MoorHub is the UK's online marketplace for long-stay boat moorings. We list marina berths, river moorings, canal moorings, and tidal berths from operators across the UK, allowing boat owners to search, compare, and book directly online.
How do I find a mooring on MoorHub?
Use the Search page to find moorings by location, region, or canal. You can filter results by your vessel's draft, beam, mooring type, and contract length. Each listing shows full specifications, photos, facilities, and pricing.
Is MoorHub free to use for boat owners?
Yes — searching, comparing, and saving favourite moorings is completely free for boat owners. Fees only apply at the point of booking, and these are clearly shown on each listing before you commit.
What types of mooring are listed on MoorHub?
MoorHub lists marina berths (pontoon, finger, alongside), river moorings on EA and privately managed rivers, canal moorings including Canal & River Trust and marina-based berths, tidal and estuary moorings, and swinging moorings. Each listing clearly identifies its type.
How long can I book a mooring for?
Contract length varies by listing — most are 3, 6, or 12-month agreements. The contract duration is shown clearly on each vacancy. Some operators offer flexible terms; others only offer annual contracts. You can filter by contract length in the search to narrow down options.
What is an auction listing?
Some operators choose to auction their berths competitively rather than listing at a fixed price. You place a bid on an auction vacancy; the highest bid when the auction closes secures the mooring. Auction end dates and current high bids are shown on the listing page.
What information does each listing include?
Every listing includes photos, location details, berth dimensions (max length, beam, and draught), mooring type, available facilities (electricity, water, Wi-Fi, laundry, parking, and more), contract length, availability status, and pricing. Fixed-price listings show the monthly rate; auction listings show the current high bid.
What is the difference between a mooring site and a berth?
A mooring site is the marina, harbour, or location — the physical place. A berth is an individual space within that site. One mooring site can have multiple berths, each with its own dimensions, type, and availability. On MoorHub you browse sites, then see the individual berths and their vacancies.
Can I save moorings I like?
Yes. Any logged-in user can tap the heart icon on a mooring site to save it as a favourite. Your saved moorings are accessible from the Favourites page in your dashboard. You can save as many as you like and remove them at any time.
How do I book a mooring?
Find a vacancy with available status, then click 'Buy It Now' on the vacancy page and follow the booking steps. You'll be asked to confirm your boat details and agree to the operator's terms before completing the booking.
Can I list my marina or mooring on MoorHub?
Yes — operators can create an account, add their mooring site, and list berths with vacancies. If you'd like to list your marina or private mooring, get in touch via the operator portal or contact us directly and we'll get you set up.
Do I need an account to search?
No — you can search and view all mooring listings without creating an account. An account is required to save favourites, save your boat's dimensions, and place bookings or bids.
